Perancangan pengembangan jaringan komputer di Universitas Surakarta berdasarkan perbandingan Protokol Routing Information Protokol (RIP) dengan Protokol Open Shortest Path First (OSPF)

Pertumbuhan jaringan komputer yang sangat pesat sekarang ini menuntut adanya kestabilan dan rebilitas baik dari perangkat jaringan komputer yang ada dan juga protokol jaringan komputer yang dipergunakan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan perbandingan terhadap kemampuan dari dua buah protokol jaringan komputer yaitu protokol Routing Information Protocol (RIP) dan Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) dalam melakukan pengelolaan paket data didalam sebuah jaringan komputer umumnya dan dalam rangka pengembangan jaringan komputer di lingkungan Universitas Surakarta yang akan mencakup 7 (tujuh) Fakultas yang ada dari 3 (tiga) Fakultas yang saat ini sudah menggunakan jaringan komputer dengan menggunakan prototyping simulasi jaringan kmputer. Dari hasil penelitian dapat terlihat bahwa kemampuan protokol RIP dalam mengelola jaringan komputer dengan jumlah client ssejumlah 70 (tujuh puluh) masih cukup memadai dibandingkan protokol OSPF yang belum menampakkan hasil yang maksimal. Namun ketika jumlah client membengkak menjadi 210 (dua ratus sepuluh) protokol RIP mulai memperlihatkan banyak penurunan baik dari segi stabilitas, kualitas dan optimalitasnya dalam mengelola jaringan komputer. Disisi lain, protokol OSPF justru memperlihatkan fungsinya sebagai pengelola jaringan komputer dengan lebih baik. Hal ini disebabkan perlakuan terhadap pengiriman paket data didalam protokol OSPF akan memperhitungkan semua aspek yang terbaik dalam melakukan transmisi paket data untuk mencapai tujuannya dibandingkan dengan protokol RIP.

This research aimed at carrying out the comparison towards the capacity from two network protocols of the computer that is Routing Information Protocol protocol (RIP) and Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) in doing the package management of the data in a network of the computer generally and in the development of the network of the computer in the Surakarta University environment that will include 7 (seven) the available Faculty from 3 (three) the Faculty that at this time has made use of the network of the computer with used prototyping the simulation of the computer network. From results of the research could be seen that the RIP protocol capacity in carrying out the network of the computer with the number client ssejumlah 70 (seventy) still quite adequate was compared by OSPF protocol that did not yet show maximal results. However when the number client increased to 210 (two hundred ten) RIP protocol began to show many good declines from the aspect of the stability, the quality and optimality him in carrying out the network of the computer. On the side other, OSPF protocol precisely showed his function as the network manager of the computer better. This was caused by the treatment of the sending of the package of the data in OSPF protocol will count on all the good aspects in doing the transmission of the package of the data to achieve his aim compared with RIP protocol.
