Postmodernisme di dalam arsitektur :: Kajian konsep dan metoda perancangan formal

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencari keberadaan bentuk konsep dan metoda desain di dalam pemikiran postmodernisme arsitektur. Apakah terdapat konsep dan metoda desain di dalam teori-teori postmodernisme arsitektur?. Selain itu, bagaimana hubungan antara gerakan arsitektur Modern dengan gerakan arsitektur postmodern?. Subyek penelitian ini adalah teori-teori postmodernisme di dalam arsitektur dari empat teoretisi arsitektur postmodern terkenal, yaitu: Robert Venturi, Charles Jencks, Heinrich Klotz dan Kisho Kurokawa. Tiap-tiap teori dari teoretisi dikaji esensinya, khususnya berkaitan dengan konsep dan metoda desain ekspressi formal arsitekturnya. Dari analisis teori-teori tersebut kemudian disusun kerangka konsepsual postmodernisme arsitektur. Dalam kerangka konsepsual ini ditemukan tiga konsep utama postmodernisme arsitektur, yang meliputi: Representasi, Hybrid atau both and, dan kontekstual. Ketiga konsep, dan metodanya, diuji keberadaannya didalam obyek-obyek empirik berupa karyakarya yang dihasilkan oleh arsitek-arsitek postmodern terkenal. Obyek empirik diambil secara purposive berdasarkan kriteria dari para teoretisi arsitektur postmodern. Hasil analisis ini akan dihubungkan secara intertekstual untuk meyakinkan bahwa konsep dan metoda desain di dalam kerangka konsepsual postmodernisme arsitektur digunakan oleh arsitek-arsitek postmodern di dalam karya-karyanya. Hasil penelitian ini, menemukan bahwa konsep-konsep beserta metoda desain di dalam kerangka konsepsual postmodernisme arsitektur ditemukan keberadaannya didalam kasus-kasus penelitian dalam berbagai tingkat dan variasi. Dalam tataran konsep, semua konsep diindikasikan keberadaannya didalam semua kasus obyek penelitian. Sedangkan pada metoda, terdapat beberapa macam dan tingkatan penerapan dalam desain ekspressi formalnya.

This research aims at identifying concepts and design methods in formal expression of postmodernism architecture. What are the design concepts and methods in the postmodernism theories of architecture?. How is the relation between modern movement of architecture and postmodern movement of architecture? The subject of these research are the theories of four famous architectural theorists in postmodernism of architecture. It includes the theories of Robert Venturi, Charles Jencks, Heinrich Klotz, and Kisho Kurokawa. Each theories was looked for the essences of design concepts and methods, especially in it’s formal expression. From these analysis, then it would be conformed a conceptual framework of the postmodernism of architecture. In these conceptual framework, there are three design concepts. They are fictional representation, hybrid or both and, and contextual. All of these concepts, and it’s design methods, would be verified by empirical objects. Each objects in this research was taken purposively from the designs of ‘postmodern’ architects. The objects was defined by criteria from the famous critics of postmodern architecture. The result of analysis were related each others intertextually to convinced that the design concepts and methods in the framework of postmodernism of architecture has been taken by architects in their work. The research find that the concepts and methods in conceptual framework have been taken in all cases study in varying way and level. All design concepts were have been found in all cases. While all design methods were have been found in some way and degree of applied formal expression in architecture.
