Elektrifikasi pedesaan melalui pembangunan Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Mikrohidro (PLTMH) menjadi salah satu upaya mengatasi persoalan kelistrikan di Desa Melawi Makmur. Pengembangan energi listrik PLTMH di Desa Melawi Makmur mampu menyediakan listrik yang lebih murah, dan jangka waktu pemakaian yang lebih panjang. PLTMH memasok kebutuhan listrik bagi 201 kepala keluarga di Dusun Nek Sawak, dan 73 kepala keluarga di Dusun Landau. PLTMH secara positif sudah dirasakan manfaatnya khususnya bagi masyarakat di Nek Sawak dan Landau, akan tetapi di Suak Mansi tidak cukup beruntung karena PLTMH yang telah dibangun hanya eksklusif digunakan di Dusun Nek Sawak dan Landau, meskipun pengembangan PLTMH ini dapat ditingkatkan kapasitas energi listriknya untuk seluruh masyarakat di Desa Melawi Makmur. PLTMH memicu terjadinya perubahan sosial-ekonomi masyarakat, seperti aktivitas rumah tangga yang mulai berubah, berkurangnya pengeluaran untuk energi listrik rumah tangga, dan kecenderungan lain seperti perubahan relasi antara masyarakat, maupun antar wilayah dusun. Selain manfaat positif di atas, ternyata PLTMH di sisi lain memicu terjadinya eksklusifitas masyarakat dalam mengelola energi listrik di wilayah ini. Ketimpangan muncul karena akses energi listrik, dan PLTMH sebagai sumber daya yang baru diprivatisasi oleh masyarakat di wilayah ini. Selain potensi ini elektrifikasi memberikan efek langsung bagi masyarakat. Ada perspektif baru, dan konstruksi imajinasi masyarakat ketika melihat perubahan yang terjadi di tempat tinggal mereka. Ada kesetaraan yang dirasakan, ketika pembangunan PLTMH di pedesaan hadir di tengah-tengah masyarakat.

Rural electrification through the development of Micro Hydro Power Plant (PLTMH) became one of the efforts to overcome electricity problems in the village of Melawi Makmur. The development of PLTMH electrical energy in Melawi Makmur Village is able to provide cheaper electricity, and longer usage period. PLTMH supplies electricity for 201 heads of households in Dusun Nek Sawak, and 73 heads of households in Dusun Landau. PLTMH has been positively felt especially for the people of Nek Sawak and Landau, but in Suak Mansi is not fortunate enough that PLTMH which has been built exclusively is used in Dusun Nek Sawak and Landau, although the development of this PLTMH can be increased the electrical energy capacity for the whole community in Melawi Makmur Village. PLTMH triggers the socio-economic changes of society, such as changing household activities, reduced spending on household electrical energy, and other trends such as changing relations between communities, as well as between hamlets. In addition to the above positive benefits, it turns out that PLTMH on the other hand trigger the exclusion of community in managing electrical energy in this region. Inequality arises because of access to electrical energy, and PLTMH as a newly privatized resource by communities in the region. In addition to this potential, electrification provides immediate effects for the community. There are new perspectives, and the construction of people's imagination when they see the changes that take place in their homes. There is a perceived equality, when the construction of a PLTMH in the countryside is present in the community.
