Latar belakang: Gangguan elektrolit tubuh hampir selalu menyertai setiap kasus bedah.

Background: Electrolyte disturbances body is almost always accompanies every surgical case. One of electrolyte that must be maintained is potassium levels in the blood. + Serum potassium levels disorders affect survival because effects against heart function, namely because of the role of Potassium+ against neuromuscular irritability and cell metabolism. The effects of potassium on blood pressure is increasing the excretion of water and sodium from the body, thereby reducing the occurrence of fluid retention. Purpose: This study aims to influence potassium levels against durante surgery and postoperative outcomes in elective surgical patients. Method: This research uses cohort method. The research was conducted in IBS Kardinah Hospital of Tegal City treated in the period 2015 until 2016. Research subjects in this case study is medical records of elective patient data from the Installation of Medical Record at Central Surgery Installation of Kardinah Hospital, Tegal City. Subjects were chosen by purposive sampling of 400 patient data. The dependent variable is the outcome durant of surgery and postoperative outcome. The independent variables are potassium levels. Data analysis using univariate and bivariate. Results: Hyperkalemia affect the outcome durante and is a risk factor outcomes durante (92.800). Hypokalemia durante affect the outcome but not the risk factor of the outcome durante. Potassium levels had no effect on the time allowed to eat after surgery. and length of treatment after surgery. Conclusion: The conclusions of this study were the effect of potassium levels on durante outcomes in elective surgery patients and no effect of potassium levels on postoperative outcome in elective surgery patients.
