Problems Solving Efforts in Maintaining the Website of Center for Asia Pacific Studies

2017 | Tugas Akhir | D3 BAHASA INGGRIS SVTugas akhir ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui profil Pusat Studi Asia Pasifik (PSAP) dan mempelajari sistem publikasi eksternal yang diterapkan oleh Pusat Studi Asia Pasifik khususnya melalui website. Kemudian mengidentifikasi masalah yang ada dan mencoba untuk memberi solusinya. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kajian pustaka dan metode observasi. Metode kajian pustaka dilakukan dengan membaca beberapa buku termasuk Handbook of PSAP, jurnal, dan sumber yang terkait dengan topik dari beberapa website di internet termasuk website PSAP. Metode observasi lapangan dilakukan dengan melakukan magang dan pengamatan langsung terhadap media publikasi melalui website di Pusat Studi Asia Pasifik, serta melakukan interview pada pegawai di PSAP. Dari hasil penelitian yang didapat, bahwa PSAP merupakan pusat studi yang pengelolaannya dibawah Universitas Gadjah Mada dan dipantau oleh LPPM (Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat). Oleh karena itu, PSAP mempunyai struktur organisasi yang jelas dan dirumuskan dengan baik. Tentang pengelolaan website, setelah dianalisa, ada beberapa kendala yang mungkin berpengaruh besar terhadap publikasi melalui website PSAP, yaitu desain yang buruk di website dan update artikel di website ini tergolong lambat. Solusi yang mungkin untuk masalah ini adalah mendesain ulang situs web, baik oleh staf PSAP atau dengan mempekerjakan orang untuk merancang ulang situs web dan membuat departemen khusus dalam mempublikasikan artikel di situs PSAP, kemudian mengubah departemen tersebut menjadi departemen yang bekerja dengan maksimal, yang mana mereka dapat membuat artikel secara teratur dan memastikan artikel pada website selalu diperbarui.
This graduating paper aims to explain the profile of Center for Asia Pacific Studies (CAPS) and to study the external publication system applied by CAPS especially through the website. The next objectives are identifying the problem and attempting to solve it. The methods used in this paper are library research methods and field study method. The library research method is done by reading several books including the Handbook of CAPS, journals, and sources related to the topic of several websites on the internet including the CAPS���¢�¯�¿�½�¯�¿�½ website. The Field study method is done by conducting internship in CAPS and direct observation of publication system through the website of CAPS, and interviewing employees in CAPS. This study was conducted from February 1, 2016, until April 1, 2016. From the results of the research, CAPS is a study center under management of Universitas Gadjah Mada and monitored by LPPM (Institute for Research and Community Service). Therefore, CAPS has a clear and well defined organizational structure. About the website maintenance, once analyzed, there are some obstacles that may have a big effect on the publication through the website maintenance of CAPS, that are bad design on the website and the update of articles on the website is relatively slow. The possible solution for the problem is redesigning the website, either by the staff of CAPS or by hiring people to redesign the website and making a special department that deals with the showing of article in the CAPS' site, then transform that department, which group of people who has good skill in creating article that SEO-friendly, into a working department, which is where they make the article regularly and making sure it stays updated.
