This study is aimed at providing the overview of The 2012 South Korean Presidential Election. The 2012 South Korean Presidential Election has elected Park Geun Hye as the first female president of Republic of Korea. This study explains how South Korea, a country with a strong influence of Confucianism, elected a woman as their president. There are four main factors that support the election of Park Geun Hye as the first female president of South Korea. The First is her own personal background, the second is The South Korean Political Culture, the third is the demographic factor, and the last is regionalism in South Korea. The main factor that supports the election of Park geun Hye as the first female president of South Korea is her strong personal background. As the daughter of President Park Chung Hee, Park Geun Hye has a strong support from the party, the older generations, and the regions which support her father back then. The fact that she is a woman is overshadowed by her strong personal background. The political culture of South Korea, the demographic factor, and the regionalism in South Korea support her strong personal background which then bring her as the winner of the 2012 South Korean Presidential Election.
