ISOLASI KARDANOL DARI CAIRAN KULIT BIJI JAMBU METEDAN METILASINYA MENGGUNAKAN REAGEN GREEN,DIMETIL KARBONAT (DMC)ISOLATION OF CARDANOL FROM CASHEW NUT SHELL LIQUID(CNSL) AND ITS METHYLATION USING GREEN REAGENT,DIMETHYL CARBONATE (DMC)

Telah dilakukan metilasi kardanol menggunakan reagen green, dimetil karbonat. Kardanol diisolasi dari cairan kulit biji jambu mete atau Cashew Nut Shell Liquid (CNSL) terdekarboksilasi. Tahap pertama adalah melakukan karakterisasi CNSL hasil pengepresan tanpa panas menggunakan spektrometer IR dan GC-MS. Selanjutnya CNSL dipanaskan pada suhu 140 ^C selama 1 jam imtuk mendapatkan CNSL terdekarboksilasi. Kardanol diisolasi dari CNSL terdekarboksilasi menggunakan rasio volume metanol dan amonium hidroksida = 8:5 dan diekstraksi dengan nheksana. Untuk memperoleh kemumian kardanol yang tinggi maka dilakukan variasi metode yaitu isolasi ulang dan menambah waktu reaksi. Selanjutnya dilakukan metilasi kardanol menggunakan reagen green DMC. Untuk mend^atkan kondisi optimum reaksi dilakukan variasi jenis katalis transfer fasa, jumlah mol basa K2CO3, suhu penangas, dan waktu reaksi. Produk CNSL hasil pengepresan mengandung asam anakardat (46%), kardanol (30%), dan kardol (23%) sedangkan CNSL terdekarboksilasi mengandung asam anakardat (11%), kardanol (60%), dan kardol (19%). Dari variasi metode isolasi kardanol diperoleh kardanol dengan kemumian terbaik sebesar 96,59% dan rendemen 79,01% yaitu dengan mercaksikan CNSL dengan metanol dan amonium hidroksida (rasio volume 8:5) pada suhu kamar selama 2 jam. Kondisi optimum reaksi metilasi kardanol dicapai pada perbandingan mol kardanol: DMC : TBAB : K2CO3 = 5 :160 : 3 : 3,75 selama 10 jam dengan suhu penangas 200 °C. Pada kondisi optimum reaksi diperoleh metil kardanol dengan kemumian 96,92% dan rendemen 82,20%

Methyladon of cardanol using green res^ent, dimethyl carbonate (DMC) has been conducted and the cardanol was isolated &om decarboxylated Cashew Nut Shell Liquid {CmV). The first step was characterization of CNSL by technical cold press method using GC-MS and IR spectrometers. To give decarboxylated CNSL, the technical CNSL was heated at 140 °C for 1 hour. Cardanol was isolated from decarboxylated CNSL using methanol and ammonium hydroxide with volume ratio 8:5 and then it was extracted with w-hexane. To get a high purity of cardanol, a variety of isolation method has been done by prolonging the reaction time and double isolation. Methylation of cardanol was carried out by the use of green reagent DMC and some variation was carried out to get the optimum condition such as variation of the type of phase transfer catalyst (PTC), amount of base K2CO3, oilbath temperature and time of reaction. Cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL) from technical cold press contains anacardic acid (46%), cardanol (30%), and cardol (23%), while decarboxylated CNSL contains anaca^c acid (11%), cardanol (60%), and cardol (19%). The best condition of isolation was obtained by reacting CNSL with methanol and ammonium hydroxide with volume ratio 8:5 at room temperature for 2 hours to yield cardanol m 79.01% with 96.59% purity. Furthermore, the optimum condition of methylation cardanol was achieved at mole ratio of cardanol: DMC ; TBAB : K2CO3 = 5 : 160 : 3 : 3.75 for 10 hours at 200 °C of oilbath temperature to give methyl cardanol in 82.20% yield and 96.92% purity.
