Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi dan termotifasi untuk mengetahui lebih jauh tentang apa yang menjadi penyebab dan akar permasalahan terjadinya konflik sosial di Poso Sulawesi Tengah. Disamping itu, penulis sebagai putra Daerah ingin memberikan sumbangsih pemikiran baik terhadap pemerintah ataupun instansi lain minimal saran, masukan, ide dengan suatu harapan konflik sosial yang menimpa masyarakat Poso segera kembali dengan normal seperti semula. Secara Akademis penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan sumbangsih pemeikiran serta masukan bagi para peneliti selanjutnya, yang berkeinginan untuk mengetahui tentang Poso maupun konflik sosial yang terjadi. Dalam penelitian ini, digunakan teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan SNOWBALL sampling yaitu mencari informan kunci yang dianggap cukup mengetahui latar belakang kronologis penyebab terjadinya konflik sosial di Poso. Untuk selanjutnya dari informan kunci itulah kemudian berantai hingga data lengkap dan cukup valid untuk proses dan analisis selanjutnya sesuai yang dibutuhkan. Jenis penelitian ini Kualitatif dengan Tipe Deskriptif analitis, yakni dari data yang diperoleh tentang bagaimana penggambaran suatu obyek baik primer maupun sekunder, kemudian dianalisis secara kualitatif yang dimaksudkan agar peneliti benar-benar memahami penyebab terjadinya konflik sosial yang terjadi di Poso. Dari hasil penelitian konflik sosial di Poso diperoleh gambaran bahwa konflik sosial yang terjadi di Poso adalah merupakan akses atau akumulasi dari berbagai persoalan dan masalah Daerah seperti Politik, hukum, Ekonomi, Kesenjangan sosial, Perimbangan Jabatan yakni jabatan Bupati, wakil Bupati dan Sekwilda. Dari persoalan-persoalan tersebut kemudian muncul dan berkembang menjadi masalah yang sangat serius yang imbasnya adalah konflik antar etnis dan Agama. Agama di sini adalah merupakan alat atau kendaraan yang paling empuk untuk mengusung sebuah ide atau idiologi dari suatu kelompok tertentu yang menginginkan Poso itu tidak aman, tentram dan damai serta hidup berdampingan satu dengan lainya di Tana Poso. Untuk mengembalikan Poso seperti semula diperlukan waktu yang lama, terutama trauma dari masyarakat yang sekarang mengalami gangguan mental akibat tragedi masa lalu sewaktu terjadinya konflik. Hal ini perlu penanganan yang serius secara simultan dari pemerintah dan dinas instansi lain di daerah agar penyembuhan dan penengananya lebih efektif.
