APLIKASI PENDETEKSI KARAKTER PADA KARTU NAMA MENGGUNAKAN TESSERACT; APPLICATION OF CHARACTERS DETECTION ON BUSINESS CARD USING TESSERACT

Exchanging print business cards is one way to establish a connection, and there are time when the print business card is likely to be lost. Therefore, this system will facilitate user to store the data contained on the card, with an easier way Using smartphone with Android OS, user only needs to photograph a business card. Than system automatically perform image processing using OpenCV library, and system will detection characters with proses OCR (Optical Character Recognition) using Tesseract library. Last, system will classification information from detection characters result using Regex (Regular expression). System will get the information needed, such as name, telephone number, and email address. Furthermore, the information will be saved into a phone book on the smartphone. From the test results, the direction of angle, and distance retrieval, best OCR results obtained from the direction parallel to the card, with a tilt angle of up to 300, and the distance between 11 to 17cm. Overall the system can detect and classify information character with a level of accuracy of 80.87%. Differences in the size of font, the distance between the characters, and the pattern of the writing on the bussiness card, make some of the information can not be detected perfectly.
